Escapism is the word that comes to mind when I see this beautiful red flowering tree whose official name is Royal Poinciana. The red color of the flowers against the green leaves automatically puts one in a good mood when viewing it! I then transport myself back in time thinking of when I found these beautiful trees while walking along the sidewalks of the City of Honolulu. The deep red of the blooms next to the Rainbow and Gold Shower trees made a magnificent landscape. Some of these trees are located over by Waikiki Beach also. They dotted the park lawns like giant red umbrellas majestically giving us shelter when a sudden misty shower came along.
These trees are also located in other warmer parts of our country like Florida and Southern California, to name a few. But Hawaii is the first place I’ve ever seen them and I will always think of those tropical islands when I look at this picture. Together, with other colorful flowering trees in the islands, they made a stunning picture!
The nickname for this tree is the “Flamboyant Red Flowering Tree”. This one was found in the inner city of Honolulu decorating the beautiful city landscapes. The Hawaiian islands are the “flower” islands because of their beautiful flowering trees and tropical plants. The summer of 2009 was a great year for Hawaiian flowers as this season they bloomed exceptionally well and in abundance.
My flowering cherry tree is a great inspiration to me, especially when I photograph its blooming period. Of course, that is only in the spring, but I appreciate every minute it stays bloomed! I added this quotation to one of my photos. You can change the quotation, or not have it at all if you would like, at my Garden Glo Flower Art Zazzle Store by LorrieM.
The Gold Shower trees of the Hawaiian islands are in full bloom this summer. The Rainbow Shower trees are equally beautiful with their bursts of pink shades along the avenues and in the yards.
Since we travel by bus most of the time, we have talked to many Hawaiians about the islands. One of the most interesting things we have heard is that the islands are in full bloom this year unlike previous other years. In fact, we were told Hawaiians were getting worried about the flowers! The trees were not at their best in years until now.
This year came with great surprise to see the trees come back into full bloom adding much decorative beauty to the islands. Hawaii is known as the flower islands for a good reason!
