A Jewel on the Horizon by Lorrie Morrison

I photographed this scenic view one year along the coast of Pismo Beach, California.

Oahu Island the Gathering Place

The beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu is featured in this scenic landscape photography year 2010 calendar by Lorrie Morrison. It makes an excellent gift.

California Evening Sky

Along the California coastline, at the tip of the Monterey Peninsula, is a big show that comes on every evening in the summer and fall. You don’t need a television to see it. You just have to be there in person. You can see there is something that will happen soon because people start to gather along the rocky coastline. Sometimes, if the tide is low, you can walk out pretty far, as if the farther you walk the closer you will be to this show! But that doesn’t matter. We can all see very well the sun is about to set and the area becomes a light pink; the little lighthouse nearby has that glow in the twilight. The pink turns a light lavendar and then the golden clouds show up as the sun goes lower behind the horizon.  The sun gives a last bow to the audience and it is done for the day.

An old neighborhood next to Cannery Row in Monterey California.

“It has always seemed strange to me,” said Doc. “The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism, and self-interest are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.” ~ John Steinbeck (Cannery Row)
